Founded in 2017, C&C is a small custom bakery specializing in creative French macaron, unique custom cakes, & other sweet treats.

Shanna & Dakota became best friends while working at a bakery together in Old Town Winchester, VA. When the bakery closed in 2017, they were faced with a choice. They could go their separate ways or they could rise from the crumbles and continue to serve the community they'd grown to love so much.

Thus, Crumbs & Crumbles was born. They make the perfect pair in the kitchen; Shanna bakes it, & Dakota decorates it!

 

Shanna Avila received her culinary education from Le Cordon Bleu after a desire for a career change.  She has worked in numerous fine dining establishments including 1789 Restaurant in Georgetown, The Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, and eM Restaurant in Winchester.  Shanna believes pastry should be reminiscent of childhood memories, times with best friends, and all our favorite things.  Between her bread babies, her husband, and her real babies, Shanna finds joy in the little things.  She hopes you find joy in the little things she makes for you.

Dakota Carden stumbled upon the cake decorating game quite by accident and has not looked back.  After taking a position in a bakery alongside Shanna, she found that she had a hidden talent for making beautiful things with food.  Abandoning her original path, Dakota is certainly the perfect fit in her new field.  Her strengths as an artist, designer, and marketer have lended well to the C&C team.  She shares her life with her husband, 2 daughters, & Cocker Spaniel pup .  All four think Dakota makes the sweetest treats around.
